About Us

A little Basque Country, brought home to California

Muxu began in the dark days of Covid when I was dreaming of travels to one of my favorite places in the world, the Basque Country in Northern Spain. My family is Basque so I went several times growing up and have fond memories. Its lush green hills, ancient culture, and world-class cuisine are medicine for the mind. They speak their own language, invented their own sport, Jai Alai, and developed their own unique wine hundreds of years ago—

Txakoli
Pronounced "Cha-Kho-Lee"
A bright, sparkling white wine, with notes of citrus and sour apple. It's drinkable all on its own or made even better paired with seafood or items hot off the grill. And it's grown from grapes found nowhere else in the world.

But life and finances don't always allow us to whisk off to the misty Basque Country. So I decided to bring a little Basque Country home to California.

I partnered with the amazing winemaker, Miguel Lepe, to produce the first Californian Txakoli!
